In which I have adventures with Bic Mark It Color Collection Markers

A couple of weeks ago, I was lamenting to my dear friend Katie that I needed some new markers for scrapbooking, specifically to do journaling with. Since she is a journaling diva, I asked what she used and she said she preferred a fine tip, acid free, permanent marker.

I set my mind to hunting some down in several colors, but hadn't had an opportunity to actually shop for some before I got a wonderful email from the good folks at Bic. You know, Bic of pens & markers & stuff.

They asked if I'd like to try out some of their beautiful Mark It Color Collections, and it couldn't have been better timing!

Here are a few ways I tried them out:

They are GREAT for journaling on layouts; and since there are so many colors in one set, you can match it to whatever the feel of your layout is.

Below, I used them to embellish a piece of Tim Holtz paper on a fragments tag to make it into a vintage styled pumpkin. The only color on there that is not from the markers is the white.

Below is an example of the fine tip; I switch back and forth on whether I prefer the ultra-fine tip or the fine tip... I think it just depends on where I'm writing and how bold I want it to be.

My favorite things about these markers (besides the fabulous array of colors, the fact that they are permanent AND acid free, and the ease at which I can journal & doodle with them) is that they come in an awesome, sturdy plastic case. It fits perfectly on my scrap shelf and in my scrap bag, and there's no digging when I'm hunting for a color.

So, it was nice while it lasted, American Crafts fine tip journaling pens.... but I've met someone new! I'm in love with the Bic Mark-It!

As a fun gift for you guys....

Bic has offered to give away a set of both the fine point and ultra-fine point color collections to two (2) of my awesome readers - a $41.98 value! All you have to do is comment here with your name & make sure to leave a way for me to contact you!

I will draw two names on Saturday, November 6th- get your entries in before midnight on Friday (Nov. 5th)!!

(If you don't win a set, you can go "like" Bic Mark-It on Facebook and print off a $2 coupon!)

  19. oooh, I'm always on the lookout for great journaling markers!! I used to type out all of my journaling but I've noticed the last few years I've rarely done that leaning more towards handwritten journaling. Although it drives my daughter nuts cause she can't read cursive ;)

  39. I {heart} these markers! My (almost) 7 year old would think she'd died and gone to heaven if she found these in our home. Of course, my toddler would probably feel the same as his sister. He's only 1.5 but he's already quite fond of markers! LOL! He really likes the way they look on his sister's white furniture. >:(
