I bought this tall, kraft cone/Christmas tree from Hobby Lobby last year, with the intentions of decorating it with a shabby chic look. I never got around to it last year, but I am glad that I waited because this year I had the perfect embellishments for it!
I started by covering it in old book paper with a little Mod Podge.
Then I hot glued some of Tim Holtz's trims. These are great for misting, but I love the simple beauty of the white against the text paper.
I also punched some stars out of kraft cardstock using my Fiskars star punch, and then sewed them together to make a little garland. I also added a few random pieces of bling.
A big star topper was hot glued on. I simply hand cut the star, matted a brand new Salvage sticker (seasonal) on black cardstock, and adhered them together. A small piece of bling adds a final touch.
For the big "ornament," I misted a grungeboard key with some Adirondack Color Wash sprays. Then I hung a facet on it with a piece of red & white Baker's twine.
I love this on my mantle! Now to find some burlap to make a swag & pennant banner....
