Need a last minute gift idea?

Get some chalkboard spray paint (at Michael's for $7.99 but you could use a 40% off coupon to make it even cheaper!) or a can of chalkboard paint....
Pick up a few silver metal trays from the Dollar Tree and some painter's masking tape. Tape around the edges of the trays and spray away! You need to do two coats to create a chalkboard.

Once they are dry, you have to prime them by rubbing chalk all over them and then wiping off. Then it's ready to write on- and decorate!I made flowers out of book paper punched with a scalloped circle punch. I used this idea from Elizabeth Kartchner, and instead of using fabric, I used paper & a hot glue gun to create the flowers.

Bits and pieces from the November & December Scripts kits add in other touches to these chalkboards!

  2. So cute! I wish I'd seen it a little earlier though. It would have been a great gift for Paul's playschool teacher but I need it for tomorrow morning:)

  10. Hello! Thank you for leaving instructions on how to make this. It's on my "to do list." I have a question though. Could you please email me at kmgiron@yahoo.com and let me know how you hung it up? How did attach the ribbon to hang it up? Did you cut the metal somehow? Thank you so much!!!!

  12. How did you hold the ribbon and the chalk to the board?

    1. The ribbon is tied through holes that I punched in the top with a Cropadile tool, and the chalk is held on with a glittered clothespin that I hot glued onto the board.
